Martin was born in London but has lived in Israel for many years.

He studied Architecture at University College London and Art at St. Martin’s School of Art and at the Slade school of Art in London.

A few years after graduating, he moved to Israel even though he had no contacts there, no job and no knowledge of Hebrew.

After a difficult beginning he opened an architectural practice in the Old City of Jaffa together with the late architect and sculptor Frank Meisler. 

Martin lectured in Architecture at the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem. He worked as a graphic designer for IBM, 

illustrated several books and published “Masks”, a cartoon book about the Gulf War.

In the 1990’s he opened his gallery “Shadma” in Tel- Aviv which ran successfully for over 15 years.

Martin worked as the London “Jewish Chronicle” Cartoonist until October 7th 2024. 

His series of ‘Jewish humor” Lithoprints is well known internationally.

He has exhibited in Paris, Marseilles, Brussels and Venice as well as New-York, Toronto, London and Florida.
